Filter within a specific project

You can create activity list filters that are confined to specific projects by using the "Only Include Sub-Activities of...." feature in the Activity List builder. This makes it possible to filter for activities within specific projects, giving you views of all the activities related to a particular project that are on your plate, or all the pending activities in the "phone call" category of a given project.

To use this feature, just follow these steps:

1. Click and drag one of your projects (i.e. the top level, or parent, activity for a project) from the activity outline to the Activity List viewlet on the left side of your screen.
2. Drop the activity in the blank space of the Activity Lists viewlet. This will create a new activity list called "Project: xyz" (with the name of the activity that you dragged displayed there)
3. Now, right click on your new filter link, and click "edit" to open up the filter editor.
4. Notice that the "Only Include Sub-Activities of..." portion of the editor is now active, and your activity is displayed there. This indicates that any criteria you outline in the filter editor will be additionally confined to sub-activities of the project listed.

What you've done is create a filter restricted to the project that you dragged into the activity list viewlet. So if you set the filter criteria to "active" activities, then when you click on the filter link in the "Activity Lists" viewlet, you'll see all the activities with an "active" status in that project only. This is a very useful feature, because it allows you to quickly narrow your focus to specific projects, and specific kinds of activities within projects.

You can also drag and drop projects on existing activity filter links in the Activity Lists viewlet to create new filters that use identical criteria but are restricted to that specific project.
