Preferences: Import/Export

The Import/Export preferences govern how Accomplice syncs with your Outlook tasks. To learn how to sync with your Outlook tasks, click here

One-Way vs Two-Way sync

Accomplice gives you 2 basic ways to sync your Accomplice activities with Outlook tasks.
  • The two-way sync acts as a full synchronization -- if you make changes to an activity in Accomplice, those changes will be made to corresponding Outlook task the next time you sync; vice versa, if you make a change to one of your Outlook tasks, that same change will be made to the corresponding Accomplice activity. If changes are made to both an Accomplice activity and its corresponding Outlook task, you will be asked upon syncing to choose which version you would like to use -- the Activity or the Task.
  • The one-way sync keeps your Outlook tasks in line with your Accomplice activities. Any changes made in Accomplice will be transferred to Outlook, but changes made in Outlook will not be made in Accomplice. This "safe" option allows you to keep your Accomplice activities safe from accidental changes or deletions that may occur in Outlook.

    Activity/Task deletion (two-way sync only)

Accomplice gives you 2 options for how you would like deleted Outlook tasks to be handled in Accomplice.
  • The default option is "Deleted Tasks cause activities to be marked as canceled." This means that your Accomplice activities will never be automatically deleted when you sync with Outlook tasks. Rather, any tasks that you delete in Outlook will simply be canceled in Accomplice. This helps to prevent you from accidentally losing activities.
  • Alternatively, you may choose to have "Deleted tasks cause activities to be deleted." This means that when a Task is deleted in Outlook, the corresponding Accomplice activity will in turn be deleted the next time you sync.

    Clear Sync History

Accomplice remembers what is changed each time you sync your Outlook tasks with Accomplice. Sometimes you may wish to start over with a "clean slate" (for example, if you begin syncing your tasks with a second computer). Click on the "Clear Sync History" button to release Accomplice's sync memory, and start syncing afresh.

    Other Import/Export notes to remember:
  • Activities that are deleted or marked as canceled in Accomplice are always deleted in Outlook.
  • Every time you begin to sync Accomplice with Outlook tasks a window will pop up indicating all the changes that will be made when you apply the sync. If anything looks unusual (like hundreds of Accomplice activities to be deleted), you can cancel the sync here.
  • Your shared Accomplice activities are never automatically deleted. So if a task that is being shared in Accomplice is deleted in Outlook, the corresponding activity will not be deleted in Accomplice the next time you sync.
